SAT vs. ACT how do you chose? Well the first thing you must do is contact the schools that you would like to attend and see if they have a preference. Most schools will accept both however the school may have a preference and if they do you want to adhere to those preferences.
If the school(s) that you are applying to do not have a preference then you have options but there are some things to think about that may help you determine which route to take. Let's start with the differences in the tests:
The ACT is a curriculum based test which covers English, Math, Reading, and Science with an optional Writing Section. It is a shorter test and more straight forward. It focuses more on grammar, punctuation, and syntax and includes Science and Trigonometry.
The SAT is more of an aptitude tests that focuses on Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, General Reasoning, and Problem Solving Skills. It focuses more on vocabulary and does not have any Science or Trigonometry.
If you still don't know what to do take both tests in order to improve your chances of admission.
