Nashville Learning Center Discusses the BIGGEST MISTAKE Students Make When Taking the SAT

Taking standardized tests is a very stressful time for most students. We focus on the fact that is a standardized tests so much that we forget that most of the information covered on the test is information that we know.

When being prepped for standardized testing we have been taught to answer all questions and when we don't know the answer make an educated guess. We are even taught by our peers if we don't know the answer choose "C".

So what is one of the biggest mistakes that students make on the SAT? They guess!

I know you are asking if I don't know the answer then why wouldn't I guess? Well here is the problem with the SAT........

There will be some questions on the SAT in which you just will not be able to answer so what you should do if you cannot use process of elimination to get rid of two or three of the answer choices then do not answer at all. I know, I know it doesn't make sense but here's the problem. If you guess and you guess incorrectly you lose 1/4 point however if you leave it blank you do not lose or gain any points. It is better to not lose or gain any points versus loses 1/4 of a point.
